Hotel Jay and Pumphouse Waterpark
Jay Peak Resort, VT
Best Projects Retail/Hospitality New England Region | Engineering News Record
Excellence in Concrete Award | Northern N.E. Concrete Association
The design goal for the new hotel and waterpark was to leverage the natural beauty of this Northern Vermont site by blurring the lines between indoors and out. Accommodating the large and complex buildings onto the mountainside site required solving several planning challenges. Floor to ceiling windows, transitional spaces, balconies, and careful site planning provide vistas of the Green Mountain scenery. A tight building envelope and rugged materials compliment simple detailing that was inspired by the historic mills of the region and stand up to the coldest temperatures. Interior design reinforces the architecture through the use of an organic palette or materials and natural elements.
